Xewkija Tigers register their second consecutive win in the league when they beat Victoria Hotspurs for the second time this season streching their run to six straight wins in all competitions.  The result remianed in balance until the final whistle and this for Xewkija's failure to make the most of the scoring opportunities they had in front of goal.

Xewkija couuld not have wished for a better start when they opened the score in the second minute of play when John Camilleri fed by Elton Vella beat goalie Mark Grima with an angled shot.  Hotspurs recovered from this difficult start and as minutes passed they showed their noses in the Tigers' box.  On 21 minutes, captain Cefai, avoided a certain goal when cleared off the line an effort by Dylan Bellotti with goalie Joseph Grima beaten.  On 23 minutes Victoria Hotspurs goalie came out of his box to block Rodney Buttigieg who was one on one against him and two minutes later Xewkija went close again through a close range header by John Camilleri following a corner by Elton Vella.  Victoria managed to find the equaliser on 40 minutes when from a corner kick, the Xewkija raregaurd failed to clear its lines with the ball falling into Julius Emanche's feet who slotted the ball into an empty net.  The Tigers had an immediate reaction and went close through Elton Vella whose effort was cleared off the line by Ryan Grech.

In the second half the Tigers came out more aggressive but Victoria created the most dangerous scoring opportunity on 55 minutes when Ian Xuereb entered the box from the right, released Oliver Farrugia who incredibly concluded wide from an ideal position.  One minute later the Tigers went close when John Camilleri entered the area unmarked but shot wide.  On the hour mark Victoria Hotspurs ended with 10 players when skipper Daniel Farrugia was sent off for a second yellow card with the match now becoming quite nervous.  On 65 minutes Xewkija's goalie  Grima was called to make a good save on a Ryan Grech shot.  However on 70 minutes the Tigers scored what was to be the winning goal.  Rodney Buttigieg took advantage of the Hotspurs' hesitation, entered the area and let flying a pile driver which beat goalie Grima.  Victoria were surprised and two minutes they could have suffered another goal when Christian Bugeja's lob ended just high.  On 84 minutes Victoria went close but Shaun Attard from an idea position concluded badly.  Two minutes from time the Tigers were reduced to 10 men when Manuel Xerri was sent off following a second caution.
